Why HVAC maintenance matters in Central Texas

Your heating and cooling system is the largest energy user in your home, and its electrical and mechanical parts live in heat, humidity and constant vibration. Without regular maintenance it uses more energy, wears out sooner and tends to fail at the worst possible moment: the hottest week of July or the coldest night of winter.

Maintenance also saves money directly. An emergency no-cool or no-heat call typically costs $150 or more than the same repair handled during a planned visit.

What we've found in Austin-area homes

$10,000

in property damage from an HVAC drain leak that ran while the homeowners were on vacation.

Gas leaks

that went undetected until our technician checked the system.

10× the CO

a gas furnace producing ten times more carbon monoxide than it was designed to.

What's included in every maintenance visit

A thorough inspection, not a quick look. Here's what we check and clean:

Cooling & electrical

  • Check the air filter and replace it with your filter, or one we supply at cost
  • Clean the outdoor condenser coil and vacuum debris from the cabinet
  • Check refrigerant levels, following EPA rules
  • Inspect and tighten electrical connections from the disconnect onward
  • Measure capacitors and other components against their rated values
  • Check breakers and disconnects
  • Inspect the indoor coil where the access panel allows
  • Check thermostat operation and calibration

Drainage & leak protection

  • Flush the condensate drain line
  • Clear debris from the drain and pan
  • Test the float switch that shuts the system off before it overflows
  • Inspect accessible ductwork for air leaks

Heating & safety

  • Clean the flame sensor and inspect and clean the gas burners
  • Verify furnace safety controls
  • Run a combustion analysis to confirm safe, efficient operation
  • Measure carbon monoxide levels inside the home (9 ppm maximum)
  • Check heat pump heating and backup heat
  • Note any building code issues
  • Assess overall performance and send you a digital report

Maintenance plan FAQ

How often should my HVAC system be serviced in Austin?

Twice a year is ideal: once in spring before cooling season and once in fall before heating season. Systems here run so many hours that once-a-year service misses problems that build up over the summer.

Is refrigerant included in the plan?

Checking refrigerant levels is included. If your system needs refrigerant added, it's charged separately at a discounted member rate. A system that keeps losing refrigerant has a leak, and we'll tell you about it.

I have more than one system. How does pricing work?

Plans are priced per system. Multi-head mini-splits and homes with several systems get a discount; call us for a quote.

Does maintenance help with my equipment warranty?

Many manufacturers expect systems to be professionally maintained, and some warranty claims ask for service records. Our digital reports give you that record.

Can I cancel my plan?

Yes. You can cancel anytime with no penalty. Plans renew automatically, so your coverage continues without a gap until you cancel.
