Unfortunately, there are times during which refrigerant needs to be added to an air conditioning system.
Let us tell you first that refrigerant is not being used by the system while functioning.
So where did the refrigerant go?
Simply, it went in the air, where it does not belong, and is causing quite some damage at the atmospheric/ stratospheric level.
There are few causes for a system being low on refrigerant:
- System has a leak, somewhere in the refrigerant circuit.
- System was not serviced properly / technician did not do his job properly
- System has not been charged properly to begin with (associated with poor installation)

It is important to ask your HVAC contractor what he can do to minimize refrigerant leak. Sometimes leaks are hard to find and require extensive testing which adds to the cost.
At Kassa-Kool we do our best to find the leak (free complimentary basic leak searching) whenever we have to add refrigerant to the system. Sometimes we can find them, sometimes it requires a different visit, procedure and cost.
